Another Cute Project

I just love pincushions .... there is something about them that is so adorable! I thought some of you might like this link to a cute Granny Square Pincushion. It looks really easy to make. Here is how hers turned out:
I definitely see one of these in my future.  Have a great day  :)

This is a Cute Idea!

I saw this today and just had to share it with you. It is a plastic bowl that has a crocheted edge... how cute is that???

You can find the instructions on how to make it here. I know the bowl shown is done for Easter, but you could really do it for any occasion ... how about for Halloween candy, Christmas candy, Valentine's candy ... the possibilities are endless!

In her post, she mentions that she used her Crop-a-dile tool to punch the holes. I don't have one of those yet, but have been wanting to get one. They have them at Jo-anns, and if you use a 40% off coupon you can get it for under $10.

I am definitely putting this project on my Must-Do list.

Have a great weekend all.

Monday Stuff

Hello all ... hope everyone had a good weekend ... it was hot here (we're still around 100 degrees) so we spent some time in the pool. Hard to believe it is near the end of September and we are still swimming in our pool!

If you would like to check out some of the stuff I've been crafting lately, you can find some of it here.  I made a couple of things from tutorials on her blog, and she featured them, along with others, in her post. I love fall decorating ...
just wish the weather would cool down so it would feel more like fall here in our neck of the woods.

Wherever you are, I hope you are having nice weather and that you have a great week.

I Won Something!

I am always signing up for giveaways on blogs ... and usually never win .. until now!

Tricia over at Notes of Sincerity recently had a giveaway and I was one of the winners. Look at the beautiful charm I won:
I have been putting charms on the zipper pouches that I make, and I have the perfect fabric for this. So I think I will make up a zipper pouch just for me!

Tricia was so sweet and also sent me this charm too:

It is the most adorable little black kitten charm ... she said that she wanted to send me something special that would brighten my day. It definitely did, and I will treasure it always.

Tricia makes beautiful jewelry and sells it on her Etsy shop, which you can find here.  Her prices are very reasonable ... I'm sure you will find something that you have to have!

Thank you Tricia ... you are so sweet and thoughtful, and you made my week!

Just Wanted to Say Thanks

I am so thankful and blessed to be part of this wonderful blogging community. Your comments on my recent posts about the loss of our cat Jethro have touched my heart and I appreciate each and every one of you. I know I don't comment on your blogs nearly as often as I should, but please know that I read your posts and am inspired by all of you daily!

In Loving Memory

There was never a friendlier cat on the face of the earth than our boy Jethro. Nobody was a stranger... especially those with kitty treats!! He loved going for walks in his stroller

Sleeping on crocheted blankets

Playing with his favorite toy

And hiding in bags

He loved to sleep like this

May you rest in peace, our sweet Jethro. You will always be in our hearts.

Jethro Update

I took Jethro to a different vet for a second opinion today .... found out he is blind in his right eye and is continuing to lose weight. After weighing all the factors, think we have decided that euthanization is the best thing to do for him at this point. We will most likely have it done tomorrow.

It was a really hard decision to make, as he has been a part of our family for over 12 years. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers as we go through this difficult time.

Good and Bad

The good - had a great long weekend... the trip to Hatch, then got to spend some time with my Mom and sister, then Mr. S. and I went to Phoenix for a Diamondbacks baseball game.

The bad - one of our older kitties, Jethro, is not doing very well at all. He has lost a lot of weight and doesn't seem to want to eat or drink anything. We took him to the vet last week and she ran a whole bunch of tests but couldn't really pinpoint what was wrong. He was dehydrated, so they gave him some fluids and he seemed to perk up. He was eating chicken (his favorite) and seemed to be doing better. Now today he is not eating or drinking anything. Mr. S. gave him some baby food (chicken) using a syringe, but he threw it all up. Not sure what to do next.... more tests, X-rays.... just don't know what we're going to do.

He is 13 years old now.... here's a picture I took of him a few months ago:

Please keep us in your prayers.

Chiles Galore

Mr. S. and I took a day trip yesterday to Hatch, New Mexico, the Chile Capital of the World. This weekend is their annual Chile Festival, but we decided to go a day early to beat the crowds.

On our way there, we saw hundreds of sunflowers growing wild along the road. I saw this one all by its lonesome so I took a picture:

Once we got to Hatch, we stopped here first:

Check out the red chiles drying on the roof!  As we drove through town, I just had to take pictures of some of the neat things we passed by:

And of course, the NM State Bird, the roadrunner, was there too:

Here is where we got our chiles from:

Check out the beautiful colors of the different types of chiles.

I bought one of these chile ristras to hang by my front door.  Here are a couple of the ladies making some:

And here is the girl roasting our chiles in the big roaster they have:

Our truck smelled wonderful all the way home from the smell of the freshly roasted chiles. Tonight I will be making Navajo Tacos for dinner using some of the chiles we purchased.  What a great trip, and a good start to the long weekend. Hope you and yours have a happy, safe weekend too!

A Trip To the Mall

I went to one of our bigger malls today as I was on that side of town getting our car repaired and I had a few hours to kill. I rarely shop at malls, and today I was reminded why.

I've decided that the only people who should shop at a mall are 16 year olds who are a Size 2 or less.... the stores all seem to be geared towards them anyway.  There were more clothing, shoes and jewelry stores for the younger crowd than any other stores... I actually went inside very few stores.

However, I did get lucky at JCPenney and found a really nice bathing suit on the clearance rack for less than $8.00.... that's right, $8.00..... can you believe it?? I checked out this particular swimsuit brand on the web and it usually retails for around $80... so I really scored!

Oh, and since when is it okay for the people at those kiosks in the aisles of the mall to accost you as you innocently walk through the mall??? By the end of my trip there, I was really tired of being asked about my: cell phone service, wrinkles, scaly heels, acne and did I want to do a survey.... answer, NO! I just want to shop in peace, thank you very much.

After a few hours there, I remembered why I don't go there very often ... it's back to Wally World and Target for me!!

Hope you're having a good week.
