Easiest Cookie Recipe Ever!

Saw this cookie recipe today that only called for 3 ingredients. Can you believe it? Since I went grocery shopping, I picked up what I needed to try them out.

(Photo from Somewhat Simple)

They are called Lemon Supreme Cookies. You will need one box of Lemon Supreme Cake Mix, an 8 oz. container of Cool Whip, softened and 1 egg. Mix them all together... it will be very thick. Preheat oven to 350 and drop by tablespoonful onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake them for 10 minutes, then let them cool on the pan for 10 minutes. That's it! They are pretty good too. It doesn't make a whole lot of cookies, but if you want to whip up something quick and easy, this is the recipe for you!  Let me know if you try them out  :)

Wednesday Stuff

I am cleaning house today, but am taking a break and decided to write a post.

Miss Lulu did not win in the Cutest Dog category of the Pet Idol contest in our local newspaper :(  Oh well, she will always be our cutest dog. We just love her so much... she has so much spunk and personality. She goes in next week to get spayed and have her microchip put in at the same time. I gave her a bath yesterday; she was not a happy camper, but she always looks (and smells!) so much better after I bathe her.

This weekend Mr. S. and I were at Lowe's plant shopping and you will never believe what we saw:

Up in the rafters of the garden center sat a Great Horned Owl! Across the way on top of some pallets were 3 baby owls too! Unfortunately my picture of them did not come out :(  They were so cute, though, all gray and fluffy.

Then the other day, Mr. S. had left to go to his evening class and called me and told me to look outside. This is what was in our front yard:

A herd of 10 deer passed right through our neighborhood. It was so awesome! That is one of the reasons I love living where we do, you never know what you will see.

I am still working on that baby blanket I posted about (faux knit one). Unfortunately my right arm has been really sore the last few days, so I have not been able to do as much crafting as I would like. Not sure if I pulled something or what. I finally decided that I had to clean my messy house today, sore arm or not!

Well, best get back to my cleaning. If I have time I need to grocery shop too. Have a great day.

Hello It's Me!

I'm back! Sorry it has been so long between posts. I actually have been doing some crocheting, and have some stuff to show you.

I wanted to make a Spring wreath for our front door, and was inspired by this one. However, in my small town I don't have access to craft stores like Jo-Anns or Michaels (sad I know!) and I didn't want to wait until the next time I went into town to buy the different colored felt she used for her flowers. So I decided to crochet my flowers instead. I used all different kinds of flower patterns that I found all over the Web and this is how it came out:

It's hard to see in the picture, but it spells out "Spring."  It was fun trying out new flower patterns, and I found several that I think would look cute on a baby headband or a crocheted beanie. Here are a few other ones that did not make it onto the wreath:

My favorite is the white one in the upper left hand corner of the picture. I followed a video on how to make it - you can find it here. She has lots of videos and patterns that you should check out also.

I also started a new baby blanket using the pattern I found here.  It is called the Faux Knit Baby Blanket and the stitches really do look like knitting:

I am using the yarn she suggested, which is Bernat Baby Blanket, in Baby Blue. It is basically just doing slip stitches in the back loop on each row, so it goes pretty fast. Plus it uses a "P" hook. The yarn is soft as all get out, but is hard to loop through my fingers the way I usually hold yarn, so I have had to adjust to that. I think I can get this one done quickly if I can just sit down and work on it for awhile uninterrupted!

I have also been doing some sewing here and there, and need to do more, as I have several more baby quilts to make. Seems like there is always someone I know expecting a baby!

Thought I would give you an update on Lulu. She is doing great, she is 5 months old already and is really growing. A couple of days ago I found some of her teeth on the floor, so guess she is losing her baby teeth! She graduated from her Basics Puppy Class and is now in the Advanced Class. She is not doing so well at this one - it is really geared towards having the dogs take the AKC Good Citizen test and she is really not ready for all that. Wish I would have known that prior to signing her up. The only good thing is that once a dog goes through the classes, they can always take it again, anytime, for free, so I expect she will be re-taking this class in the future. She is just too young and hyper to do all of the things that it requires!

I submitted this picture of her to the local newspaper:

They are doing a "Pet Idol" contest, so I entered her in the Cutest Dog category. I sure hope she wins!

I'm glad I took the photo when I did, because she now looks like this:

Yes, she got totally shaved!  I was so mad when I went to pick her up from the groomers. I asked her to trim her up and this is what she did!  Guess I need to learn dog grooming lingo better. Mr. S. was so upset when we got home. The worst part is it cost me twice as much as when they just shampooed her! I think I will be looking for a new groomer.

I wanted to share a recipe with you too. I made this cake yesterday and it is soooo delicious. It is a Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. So sorry I do not have a picture to show you. I don't have a mini squares tin, so I just made mine in a 9 X 13 pan. I added some chopped nuts to the top after frosting it. Mr. S. had two pieces after dinner last night!  I did not put the cake in the freezer as the recipe suggests, so I don't know if it really makes it moister or not.

Think that catches you up with everything going on in my little corner of the world! Hope everyone has a great week, and that you are enjoying nice spring weather wherever you are  :)

Easter Projects

I did get some of my creative mojo back. I wish I had more, as I have several baby blankets/quilts that I need to do, but for some reason I just don't feel like sewing!

I did make some Easter crochet projects:

I made this colorful banner in Easter colors. It took a bit of doing to track down the pattern. I first saw a picture of it on Pinterest, but it just took me to a Flickr post. That post referenced a pattern by Attic 24, but I did not find a pattern for it anywhere on her blog. I eventually found it on Ravelry. If you search for "Attic24 Bunting" it has a link to the free pattern.

I then saw this somewhere:

I went to the blog and found her great pattern here.  These are made using poly-fil stuffing to keep their shape. After making a few, I remembered that I had some of those plastic Easter eggs from the dollar store.  With a little re-working of her pattern, I was able to crochet around the plastic eggs!

Here they all are displayed in an Easter basket:

I love the addition of the little flower, it adds a nice touch, don't you think?

If you would like my re-worked pattern to crochet around a plastic Easter egg, just leave me a comment and I will type it up and send it to you. I wrote down what I did as I went so I wouldn't forget!

Did you know that today is the first day of Spring? It is hard for me to believe, since we had SNOW all day yesterday! Yep, that's right, it snowed here in the desert of Arizona!!  I tried to put a video on here to show you, but it just would not work :(

Since Lulu has been stuck in the house the last few days due to the bad weather, I think I will take her to the dog park today for some much needed exercise. The sun is out today and it should be near 60 degrees this afternoon, so it should be a beautiful day.  Hope you're having good weather where you are  :)

I'm Back ... Sort of!

Hi everyone. My computer is up and running again, thanks to a new hard drive from Dell (thank goodness for extended warranties!)  I still don't know if we will ever be able to recover the data from my old hard drive. I need to take it to the computer place in town and see if they can even read it.

I haven't done any sewing in a long while, and crochet is sporadic at best. Seems that I just don't have any creative juices right now. I started crocheting that baby quilt blocks afghan, but found more problems with the pattern once I was about halfway done, so I just frogged it and will not attempt it again.

My posting will probably be sporadic until my crafting mojo is back. Thanks for hanging in there with me :)

I Am So Depressed...

Why? Because my computer crashed on Saturday :(  I didn't realize  how much I used my computer until I didn't have it anymore.  I am writing this post on hubby's laptop, which I hate, because I am not used to this small keyboard and I much prefer my computer.

Thank goodness we bought the extended warranty, but who knows how long it will be until it gets fixed or replaced. I really  hope they can fix it, because I will just be sick if I can't get any of my pictures and files back. Guess this will teach me to back-up my computer on a regular basis, huh?

Other than that, all is well. We took Lulu to her first puppy class on Saturday and she did really well.   She can now walk on a short lease, sit, wait and is pretty good at sit/stay. The instructor is awesome (he wrote the training program for Petco!) and really knows his stuff, so I know Lulu will learn a lot the next six weeks.

Keep your fingers crossed that they get my computer back up and running!   :)

Pattern Correction and Stuff

If you read my post last Friday, I shared a link to a pattern called Quick Blocks Baby Afghan. I started and frogged the thing FOUR times before I called it quits and asked the author of the pattern for help.

Turns out it wasn't me (thank goodness, thought I was going crazy!) and there were errors in the pattern. If you printed out the original pattern, please go back and re-print it, as the corrections are there now and it works just fine! Here is a link to it:  Quick Blocks Baby Afghan

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. I made dinner for Mr. S. using a recipe Pammy Sue posted for Sesame Noodles (the one she got from Kate) and it was delicious. I made him a Spice Cake with homemade Cream Cheese Frosting for dessert. It turned out okay, but I think the frosting is a little too cream cheesey for my taste; next time I will add more powdered sugar. Mr. S. did not complain; he had two pieces!  He is taking me out for dinner tonight, since he had class last night.

It has been cold and windy the past two days, which means Lulu and I have been stuck in the house. She was not very happy with that, as she loves to go for walks. Thank goodness I woke up to no wind this morning and it is supposed to be in the low 60's today. Maybe I will take her over to the dog park today after running to the grocery store.

That's all for now.. bye  :)
