I learned from the Easter Bunny:
Don't put all of your eggs in one basket
Walk softly and carry a big carrot
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears
There's no such thing as too much candy
All work and no play can make you a basket case
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention
Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits
Some body parts should be floppy
Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans
Good things come in small sugarcoated packages
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare
To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey

Update
Hi all.... just wanted to say hello and give you a house update. So far things are progressing right along with the purchase of our new home. We don't have a firm closing date yet, but have been notified that it will be no later than mid-May. We are dealing with a bank, so it's kind of slow going.
We found a lovely young couple that want to rent our current home, so that is a load off our minds (and checkbook!).
Here is a picture of the view from the backyard:
Gorgeous isn't it? I will be able to stand at my kitchen sink and see this view outside the window.
One of the best things about this new house is that I will have my very own room (with a door to keep the cats out!) dedicated to crafting and sewing. I will have to store all of my yarn and crochet projects in this room, as well as all of my fabric and other sewing items, so I want to make the best use of the space that I can. Any tips or hints you can give me about organizing and/or decorating would be greatly appreciated.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Creamy Chicken Tortilla Soup
I am making this for dinner tonight, so thought I would share the recipe with you. I got it from WW several years ago, but I know it has also been on the side of the refried bean can too! It is easy, quick and delicious.
You will need:
4 cans (10 oz. each) RoTel diced tomatoes with green chiles
4 cans (14.5 oz each) Chicken broth
1 can (30 oz.) Rosarita traditional refried beans
1 cup whole kernel corn (I usually just add in a 15 oz. can, drained)
4 cups shredded, cooked chicken
3 ounces of corn tortilla strips
1/4 cup shredded 2% lowfat Monterey Jack cheese (or any kind you like)
Combine tomatoes and chicken broth in large pot. Stir in beans and corn. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low and simmer 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add chicken; heat through. Top with tortilla chips and cheese.
Makes 12 servings. Each serving provides 3 WW points (under the old Points plan) or about 1 1/2 cups.
Hope you try this, it is delicious!

On Hiatus
My postings will be few and far between in the next couple of months because I'll be working on filling up lots of these:
That's right, we're packin' up the old homestead and moving.
Mr. S. has been commuting to his job for over a year and a half now, and we have been looking at houses almost that long. We finally found our dream house; it's situated on 4 acres with gorgeous mountain views. It is about an hour and a half away from where we currently live. For now we are going to have to rent out our current house; not an ideal situation, but something we will have to do for now.
Wish us luck as we begin a new chapter in our lives!

Under the Weather
That's been me this week... well, minus the teddy bear! I have been sick with a viral infection since Tuesday... had a fever between 101 and 102 for 3 days straight... it finally broke last night, so I am starting to feel somewhat better today.
Just wanted to let you know I was still around!

Spring is Here
After an unexpectedly cold winter, we lost most of our outside plants. Surprisingly, this tulip survived and it bloomed this morning. Isn't it beautiful??
It's been gorgeous weather here this week, in the low 80's! Think this weekend Mr. S. and I will go to the plant nursery and see what we can find.
Hope wherever you are you are having nice weather, and that you have a wonderful weekend.

Afghan is Finished
I finally finished the Aligned Shells afghan that I was working on:
I love this pattern, because it is one of those "no-brainers" you can do while watching television. All I did for the border was several rounds of single crochet.
I've gotten quite a few projects done lately, but most of them are sewing projects. My SIL Beth was here for a little over a week and we sure got a lot done. Thanks to her guidance and help, I feel much more confident in my sewing now.
We did work on a few crochet-related items, but I'm saving them for my next giveaway! Stay tuned, because you never know when I will spring a giveaway on you!
