Fast and Easy 4th of July Projects

I put together some really easy 4th of July decorations for my table. The inspiration came from here and I just elaborated on it a little further. All you do is color white rice with food coloring... fast and easy!

I had extra rice leftover after I made the first project, so I took a canning jar and added all three colors of rice mixed up and then added a votive candle and a ribbon... so simple.

Hope everyone has a very safe and Happy 4th of July.

Another Tote Bag

I made up a beach tote yesterday using some fabric my sister bought me at Ikea. I had no idea they sold fabric, so next time I go to visit her in the big city, guess where I'll be going???

I deliberately cut out the fabric so that one side had the white hearts and the other side of the bag had the yellow hearts. The fabric is heavy, almost like canvas, so I didn't even need to line it.

I also found some really cute fabric yesterday at JoAnn's for 60% off that I just HAD to buy that will be great for bags and purses, so stay tuned!

Cute Crochet Project

I found these cute little crocheted butterflies here. Aren't they adorable? And she made them with embroidery thread... now why didn't I think of that???!! These would be perfect for so many things... add to a hair barrette or headband, decorate a note card, or add to some ribbon to decorate a gift, just to name a few. I'll definitely be trying these; hope you do too.

You're Not Going to Believe This One!

While browsing through blogs today, I came across something that made me laugh.. I could not believe these things even existed. Once I was through chuckling, I decided I had to make some of them. Here they are:

I know, you're wondering what the heck these are, aren't you? Well, they are called "Pee Pee Teepees" and they are to be used when changing the diaper on a baby boy... you probably know where this is going now, don't you??!!!

Yup, the cone fits over his wee wee so that he doesn't pee on you while you change his diaper. I thought I had seen everything, but apparently I was wrong! I made these up for our nephew's girlfriend and her best friend, both of whom just had baby boys. If nothing else, they will get a good laugh out of them!

Hope you are enjoying your Friday... yay, it's almost the weekend!

Busy Girl

I have been very busy crafting the last couple of days. I made some more of those reusable coffee sleeves:

I also made a mouse pad and matching coaster for my sister-in-law Becky to use at work:

Remember I said I wanted to make a knitting needle case for my neighbor? Well, I spent a good part of yesterday working on it and after it was all done I decided I just could not give it away.... the sewing was way too wonky in places.

The pocket was horrible, it ended up slanting up on one side.. ugh.  I could not find a pattern I liked for one on the web, so I tried to use my crochet hook case pattern and re-size it.. obviously it did not work! I couldn't figure out what to do with it until it hit me... why not use it to hold my big serving spoons and cutlery for when we go camping? So I've got the seam ripper out and will re-size some of the openings and re-purpose it.

This morning I finally found a knitting needle case tutorial on the web that I liked and made another one...

I like this one much better.

I'm off to do more crafting... have a great day.
